Although the food is good they use the International Diners Club to draw people in then don't let them take advantage of the package they paid for. My wife and I go to lunch in downtown Asheville every Friday afternoon and when we saw Chai Pani on the list of restaurants for International Diners Club we went ahead and bought the package. In the brochure info there was nothing saying we couldn't use it for lunch but at the restraurant the some white non-indian guy said no we couldn't use it for lunch. It ticked my wife off and we don't go there anymore. Not very smart on their part. They lost out on the good will of locals for the sake of a few meals but in the long run they will lose more as I tell everyone who also dines locally what happened and they won't go their either. Way to go guy! It's the locals that will keep you afloat during the long non-tourist season.
This Indian restaurant just opened in the last year in Asheville, so the first time I went was in August. The decoration of Chai Pani is like a fusion of India and Asheville, but the food is most assuredly scrumptious Indian food.
Most of the food is served on shiny, stainless steel plates and dishes called thali plates. The food was great.
I recommend this place to anyone in Asheville who wants to get some t-riffic Indian food, but I'ma only give it 4 stars since the service was SLLLOOOOWWWW.
