I was recently visiting Waynesville for a holiday and was pleasantly surprised to find the Smokey Mountain Cinema. We had planned to go to Asheville but found this theater online and decided to make a shorter trip and support local business. It turned out to be a good choice. Unlike the previous review, I found the screen and sound system to be comparatively modern. We saw a fairly special effects laden movie there and the surround sound was pretty good. There are only two theaters but each is relatively spacious and if you arrive about 20 minutes early you should have no problems getting a good seat. Most movie theaters are heavily visited by teens but there was more of a mix at this Cinema. The seats were comfortable and the floors and rest rooms were very clean. The prices are about half of what I am used to paying so what you get for your money here is very reasonable. Hopefully this theater will still be here when we visit next year.
The theater is not very big, a little dated, but the phone messages are so entertaining and it's nice that you don't have to drive to Asheville to catch a current movie. The prices are very reasonable. Go ... keep them in business !

Very pleasant theater. Reasonable prices and up-to-date films. Attended movies there three or four times while visiting relatives in Waynesville and Maggie Valley from out of state over a 20-year period.
